Wow, it’s amazing to think about how long it’s been since I attended an in person conference. It hasn’t ACTUALLY been that long but for someone who is used to attending 6 a year, it feels like forever… and I miss it, a lot!

Like many things, conferences are moving more and more virtual. It’s not the same, but it’s better than nothing, and I happen to particularly like this brand new format and virtual conference, Dynamics Con. It’s a Dynamics 365 virtual conference we 3 cool components:

  1. It’s 100% Free
  2. Sessions are voted on by attendees, top sessions make the cut
  3. Proceeds benefit #COVID19 Relief

It’s the inaugural year for the event and I think it is off to a great start and I am happy to participate… but I need your help!!

About my session: The POWER of Power BI

This is THE session to get you started with Power BI. We will cover Power Query and the Power BI Desktop. It’s an intro, but at the right pace, and preparing you for the next step on your journey.

Session Description:

So you have data… and a vision for how you can use it to make quick, impactful decisions… but DRAT… you don’t know where to begin your PBI journey… look no further! During this POWERFUL intro to the most impactful part of Power BI, we will perform a walk-through of Power Query and the Power BI desktop application. How do I connect to data? How do I clean my data? How do I combine my data? And OH, how to take that data, and turn it into a bat signal… I mean, Business Intelligence! This session will get you started on your superpower journey… come join us!! New LifeHacks channel… new LifeHacks time… same great content!

How to resolve the error:

Unable to connect to the PowerBI Site. Contact your system administrator.

So, you’ve done all the setup and you are ready to get Power BI on your GP Dashboard but when entering into the home screen customization window, you get a blank screen with a very misleading message…  Unable to connect to the Power BI site.  Contact your system administrator.
reached out to me with this roadblock, and I’m glad she did!  I wasn’t sure how to fix this but we figured it out and I am happy to share the solution with my readers!
